We believe that Pediatric Dentistry is more than fixing teeth. We are concerned about the overall well-being of children. Accident prevention and safety counseling are part of our profession and the responsibility of every health care provider involved in pediatric care.
Inappropriate feeding of children can lead to a typical nursing pattern decay. One term used for this type of caries is Baby Bottle Tooth Decay (BBTD), others are nursing bottle caries, nursing caries, bottle caries, infant caries, early childhood caries etc. Please click here for more information about Childhood Caries or BBTD.
What will your child's first dentist visit be?
Children are not born with “ dental anxiety ”. During your child's first visit we show them, and you, the office, the toys and the play area. If they have a favorite stuffed animal they would like to “show around”, they are welcome to.
During the actual exam we gently “count' their teeth and teach them to allow us to look at and examine their teeth and gums. Everything is done calmly and slowly so they aren't startled or surprised. Please allow yourself plenty of time at our practice in order for your child to enjoy their visit in a calm, unhurried and happy atmosphere.
Dr. Sarrosa explains everything she is doing in words children can understand. We ask for your help ahead of time by speaking of your visit in positive and matter-of-fact terms. Remember, children aren't born with a fear of the dentist. If their visit is treated with frankness, calm and a positive attitude, they will be on their way to a lifetime of positive visits, good dental habits and happy, healthy smiles.
